San Lorenzo Valley High School

LEAF #1

Felton, California is home to SchoolGrown's first LEAF greenhouse!

A LEAF greenhouse is an educational facility that supports a school or community. The LEAF provides living examples that can be integrated into many classroom lessons. For example: Mathematics can measure and chart the growth rate of plants, chemistry monitors nutrient cycles, small business economics in the principles of supply and demand, and biology observes fish and plant life cycles.

A major benefit of the LEAF greenhouse is the connection that develops between people and the food we eat. Many people only see food that comes from restaurants or grocery stores. They rarely know how or where it is grown, how it is transported, or agriculture's environmental impact. A LEAF is a living demonstration!

Get Veggies and Support the program!

The aquaponics system is a high performance agricultural system that produces enough fruits and veggies to support all operations of the greenhouse. All produce grown is made available for donation. All donations made at the school farm stand, and on this page support the San Lorenzo Valley HS LEAF greenhouse project.

CSA box reservations

50 weekly total reservations available

CSA-Produce Box Reservations

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a way for consumers to support their local farmer by pre-paying for a season's share (13-weeks) of the farmer’s produce. This gives the farmer money early in a season when he needs it, and allows it to be “repaid” in produce as it is harvested.

Register now to reserve your weekly box of produce. You can reserve 4 or 13 weeks at a time, with the ability to auto renew your reservation. Opt for 13 weeks and receive one week free! Subscribers will be able to pickup their weekly boxes at a designated spot at SLVHS.

Feed A Family in Felton

Interested in helping families in your community? You can donate a month, quarter or year subscription of SchoolGrown CSA to a family in need in the Felton community. Your donation will be matched to a family that has registered for this program. The more donations we receive, the more families in need we can provide fresh, local produce to.

If you are a low income family and would like to sign up for SchoolGrown's donated CSA reservations, please register by clicking the button below and completing the form. (availability based on # of donations made)
